The Division of
Materials Sciences and Engineering supports
a suite of four
electron beam microcharacterization centers as user facilities, which
include: the Electron Microscopy Center (EMC) at
ANL; the National Center for Electron Microscopy (NCEM)
at LBNL; the Shared Research Equipment (SHaRE)
Program at ORNL; and the Center for Microanalysis
of Materials (CMM) at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
These centers operate, maintain, and develop instruments that can
not readily be accommodated within single-investigator laboratories, and
make this state-of-the-art equipment available to users.
They also engage in forefront research efforts and share the tools
and techniques they develop and the expertise of their staff with the
broader scientific community. For
more information about the electron beam microcharacterization centers,
please contact Dr. Altaf H. Carim.
