Secretary's Achievement
Award

The
Office of Science’s Oak Ridge National
Laboratory, Center for Nanophase Materials
Sciences (CNMS) Project is presented
this award for demonstrating significant results
in completing a project within cost and
schedule.
The $64.7 million CNMS project was
completed one month early, within budget, meeting
all technical specifications and with an exemplary
safety record. It was the
first of five Basic Energy Sciences (BES)
Nanoscale Science Research Centers to
be completed and the project and scientific
program staff generously shared lessons learned in
areas of clean-room and laboratory design,
instrument procurement and commissioning, and user
program development with the other Centers still
under construction. |
